The body is made of Pro-Line’s Bash Armor material which is twice as thick as your regular polycarbonate body and is also ultra-flexible to help keep it from cracking or shattering. For this reasoning, it made perfect sense to select the Pro-Line Pre-Cut Brute Bash Armor body. Flipping the truck onto its roof when launching off the line and high-speed cartwheels and tumbles are common occurrences. If you have ever driven a high-power, high-speed RC truck on pavement, then you know they are quite a handful to keep in control. Pre-Cut Brute Bash Armor White Body-#3518-15 Below are the two Pro-Line products we would use on this build. With all this speed on tap, the High-Speed Street Machine build was born. You can squeeze more speed out of this truck by simply changing the pinion and spur gear while using a 3S LiPo pack thus hitting highway speeds of 65+mph. The Traxxas Rustler 4×4 VXL is a very fast truck right out of the box with speeds in the 40mph range when using a 3S LiPo battery pack. Notice that the height of the posts are adjustable to suit different bodies. (NOTE: Only the Pro-Line Pre-Cut 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor Clear Body was made to work with the stock Traxxas cage and body mounting system and does not need this accessory.) Just screw down the included setscrew into the body mount, place the O-ring over the setscrew, mount the body as you normally would and hold it in place with the Secure-Loc Caps. As for body clips…you won’t need them with this kit because it uses Pro-Lines’s innovative screw-on body mounting system using Secure-Loc Caps. This body mount kit also gives you the flexibility to use many different types of aftermarket bodies because the height of the posts are adjustable. So Pro-Line came to the rescue and produced this Extended Front and Rear Body Mount Kit that includes body mounts that bolt onto the front and rear shock towers. The reason being is that Traxxas gave the Rustler 4×4 its clipless body mounting system and this method does not use any body posts to secure the body onto the chassis. Without this body mounting kit, most aftermarket bodies would be a nightmare to mount on the Rustler 4×4 chassis. Traxxas has great electronics/battery warranties and all stock models in good condition typically sell for 70-80% of new price on eBay (sometimes including a battery/charger).Extended Front and Rear Body Mount Kit for Rustler 4×4-#6362-00Īn essential Pro-Line accessory that is needed for two of the builds mentioned in this article is the Extended Front and Rear Body Mount Kit for the Rustler 4×4 (#6362-00). A few YouTubers have said the Hoss is essentially a Stampede 2.0. Other wheel/tire changes don't really make sense for the model and going that route it is likely better to spend the extra $100 to get a Maxx with slightly better resale value in case your son ends up wanting something different. The Hoss feels more purpose built, limited to being fun off road and jumping. ![]() Next on the list are paddle tires for the sand/snow. Just ordered a set of Anaconda wheels and those should be interesting for on road locations doing wheelies and high speed cornering. Smoother parking lots with sealant can be a little drifty even. The stock Talon tires have the right amount of grip in the dirt and behave differently on various types of pavement. The added height and larger profile tires are also a big improvement for jumping/bashing. With the Sledgehammer wheels that come on the Hoss the Rustler is a beast through the grass. It's been extra fun upgrading wheels and each set offers a different driving experience (great new reasons to run the car in different places and more often). I've been impressed with the super stable cornering and it seems much less tippy than the Hoss in all of the running videos studied when comparing them. ![]() Faced the same question and ended up getting the Rustler.
